Active Flag News 2018

Active school update September 2017

Firstly, welcome back to everyone and we hope you enjoyed a summer full of activity and fun. We are looking forward to continuing and promoting healthy and fun activities in St Francis Xavier JNS in the coming year.

The first and second classes are already down to business and receiving input from Fingal in the area of Sports Conditioning. The first week involved an assessment where a random selection of children were put through their paces. Based on the outcome of the assessment, the sports officers will guide the children through a programme specific to their needs. Senior infants also began a six week programme of GAA and are thoroughly enjoying it.

Many initiatives implemented last year will continue this year, e.g. Slí na Sláinte, Dance on Fridays, and our active stations in the yard and our Active School Week to mention a few. Also, keep an eye out for the return of our active teddies. They have been in hibernation all summer and are looking forward to stretching their legs and dusting off the cobwebs!!

Our Astro pitch and playhouses are a huge success and the children will continue to access both throughout the year. We will also be paying particular attention to gymnastics in the coming year and we are also hoping to continue our second class swimming programme in the spring/summer term next year. We would also encourage you all to continue WOW (Walk on Wednesday) throughout the year.

Finally, we invite you all to support and encourage your children to become active and healthy members of St Francis Xavier JNS school community.
