St. Francis Xavier School has its origin in a prefab in the grounds of Coolmine House, the current site of Scoil Oilibhear.
It was built in 1973 to facilitate the increasing number of school-going children in the rapidly developing St. Brigid’s Parish in Blanchardstown.
Rooms were rented in the old Vocational School, Blanchardstown Village and in July 1976 a permanent building was opened, the present St. Francis Xavier Junior School. However in July 1978 due to large numbers the school was divided and the Senior School was established.
