The ISPCC’s Shield Anti-Bullying Programme provides schools with resources to effectively tackle bullying and help young people shield themselves and others from the harmful effects of bullying. This is an award for schools who are taking a positive and proactive approach to bullying. In our school, we have a zero-tolerance approach to bullying.
St. Francis Xavier JNS was awarded the Blue Shield Flag in June 2018. Every year, the Blue Shield Flag Committee, under the guidance of Ms. Connolly host a ‘Positivity Week’ in the school. During this week, the children engage in friendship lessons and anti-bullying activities. We aim to teach the Stay Safe topic of ‘Friendship and Bullying’ in our classes. Annually, there is a poster competition which includes our slogan ‘Smiles Are Our Superpowers’. On yard, we also have our ‘Kindness Monitors’ who have a very important job to find others that are being a good friend 😊.
